Multiple calendar columns: Showing meeting rooms instead of days

As a sponsored feature, I've developed a DayPilot modification that shows data for multiple resources for one day in the calendar columns (instead of multiple days).

I'm wondering if this is interesting for more users: Should I incorporate it into the standard release?
Dan Letecky - 2/5/2007 8:56:26 AM
I think it would be a great feature for the standard release. :)

Should be in the standard.

If it is integrated in a nice generic way it's a fantastic feature especially if you have many dates to manage.

+1 from me.

Hi All,

I am the requester of this feature and am now beta testing the feature and I have to say: Dan did an extremely good job on this.

I use it to display multiple employee's at once and it works great. You can set a fixed number of columns with employee number and name or dynamically create them during loading of the page.

Although I heard it was a tough feature to implement in the standard release I hope Dan is able to make it available for everyone.

Right now I work with the separated release. Im able to use features for showing multiple resources but other features had to be sacrificed to make implementation a little easier but this means it will not be useful for everyone

Note you can always help Dan with a little donation, i am glad i did ;)

Absolutely! That would be a great feature to have.

OK. It seems that it makes sense to add this feature.

I'm developing a web based resource scheduling application for our church. I would love to see what you have done with this. Do you have any screen shots or demos?
Chuck - 2/12/2007 10:31:59 PM
This feature is now available in DayPilot 3.0.
Dan Letecky - 2/14/2007 3:41:57 PM
Chuck, the demo is available here: http://www.daypilot.org/demo/ColumnModeResources.aspx

If you would like to get a free non-profit license of DayPilot 3.0 for your church, please contact sales @ annpoint.com.

You have a great product. Its simple to use and looks good.

One quick question

Ive seen your resource view, but I have a customer that needs a resource view that looks like the following. Can DayPilot be configured to look like this? It's kind of hard to do in this textbox but the idea is to have the resource listeddown the left side and the days across the top. The events could be multiple per day perresource.

Thanks, Jeff. As we are discussing it directly by e-mail I will post the results of our discussion here when we are done. I expect it will appear on the roadmap.
Dan Letecky - 5/10/2007 8:30:47 AM
I want to have a Resources View (like http://www.daypilot.org/demo/ResourcesView.aspx)but show multiple days (not time) on the left. Is it supported now? If not, how easy it will be to implement?
Michael Freidgeim - 5/12/2007 6:16:04 AM
Michael: This is not supported at the moment. However, I've already received requests for such a view and I will put it into the plan for the DayPilot Pro 3.8 (expected 1 July).
Dan Letecky - 5/12/2007 8:26:14 AM
I've added DayPilot Pro 3.8 to the roadmap. It includes resources-days view specification. If you have anything to add or have some special wishes, please let me know at daypilot @ annpoint.com.

Our company is considering purchasing a license for the DayPilot Calendar control but we have a few requirements that don't seem to be met based off of the documentation and the little experimentation I've done. One of these features has to do with the Multi Column Resource per day concept.

Missing Features:
* Multiple Resource Columns shown per day column (appears to be F13 in the roadmap)
* Ability to have non-contiguous days

We may be able to work around the non-contiguous days issue by having multiple calendars on our page instead but the multiple resource columns is a must in order to match our older product which was used the DBI ActiveX schedule control.
Jeff - 11/26/2007 8:21:32 PM
Non-contiguous days are supported (you have to add the days manually using the Columns collection - see Demo/Test/NonBusinessDays.aspx in the package).

The first possible date for F13 feature is 15 January 2008 in a private beta. If you want to discuss it, please let me know at daypilot @ annpoint.com.

A bit dirty workaround for F13 would be rendering an extra table above DayPilotCalendar as drafted in Demo/Test/Columns.aspx.
Dan Letecky - 11/26/2007 9:19:07 PM
F13 (Multiple columns per day) is now available (since 4.6 SP1).

In fact it can do much more than these two demo show: You can define a hierarchy of columns with an arbitrary number of levels (specified using HeaderLevels property).
