DayPilotSelectEvent after TimeRangeSelected

On TimeRangeSelected I am creating a new event. I want that event to be selected (event select bars visible) after creating it in TimeRangeSelected. I assumed DayPilotCalendar1.SelectedEventValue = rs(0) would work. Where rs(0) is the id of the newly created event. However, that event is not selected when returning to the gui.
